Volunteer Opportunities

Lend a hand, Touch a Life, Be the Change

 

RSVP VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES:

Support students and teachers in schools throughout Manitowoc County by offering classroom assistance and support. RSVP works with three school districts in the county (Manitowoc, Two Rivers and Mishicot) to provide volunteers opportunities to make a difference in the lives of students.

Reading Buddies Program 4K
•    Read to a small group of pre-school children one time per month
•    Volunteers work as a team to choose a book and enrichment activity

Tutors/Mentors – Elementary School
•    Work with individual students or small groups
•    School based literacy programs
•    Flexible schedules of before, during or after regular school hours

Food Pantry Support
•    Drivers are needed to pick up donated food items, there are several
     routes which run during the morning hours
•    Stocking shelves
•    Guiding people through the food pantry
•    Locations include Peter’s Pantry, St. Vincent DePaul in Manitowoc,
     Two River Ecumenical Pantry and the Salvation Army Food Pantry

Food Delivery (Meals on Wheels and Meal Sites)
•    Helping to prepare meals
•    Driving routes
•    Delivering meals to the door
•    Several locations including Senior Centers

Companionship / Telephone Reassurance / Transportation
•    Visiting with elderly once or twice a month
•    Calling elderly to “check” on how they are doing
•    Transporting people to and from appointments
•    Several locations including Manitowoc Sheriff’s Department, Senior
     Centers, Health Care Facilities (HFM, North Ridge, Felician Village)

Enhance Fitness
•    Teaching nutrition
•    Leading mild exercise classes
•    Senior Centers

 Adult Basic Education (Adult Literacy Program – Manitowoc Library)
•    Involves working with an adult individual on a flexible schedule
•    Thorough training is provided

All positions receive training and support from the volunteer station and RSVP.
