What are the benefits of 211?
-
211 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
-
211 is available to callers (senior citizens, teens, and adults of all ages) to access community services that formerly required the caller to dial a nine- or seven-digit number.
-
211 provides specific information regarding each service, including who to call and where to go when you need assistance. This eliminates complicated searches through phone books and multiple misdirected phone calls trying to find the right social service agency to meet each caller's needs.
-
211 provides easy access to services that can meet the needs of all Manitowoc County.
-
211 will reduce and/or eliminate non-emergency, non-police or non-fire related calls that prior were placed to 9-1-1. Some residents may not have known where to acquire assistance and, in the past, may have called 9-1-1 for non-emergency, non-police or non-fire related concerns. 211 offers the appropriate resources and assistance residents need and also reduces unnecessary calls that may tie up the lines designated to handle police and fire emergencies.
